iPhone Signal Strength

I have been a loyal Windows, Android user until I got the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, I love it so much that when my ancient Windows computer needed to be replaced I got an iMac 27" and now I'm sure I will never purchase another PC. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and while I have been happier with it than with any other phone I've had I do still have problems. I live in a hilly/sketchy signal area and using my phone as a phone just isn't dependable at all, and data signal make a rare short lived appearance from time to time at best.

I don't know anyone close by who has an iPhone or I could answer this question myself, how good are the radios in iPhone? I know my daughter who lives 2000 miles away, says she has never had a dropped call, but I would like to hear from former Samsung Galaxy owners who are in sketchy phone areas about how the iPhone compares. I can't carry on a conversation on my GN4 without the call dropping unless I stand/sit perfectly still in only one spot in my house.

When I'm in my car with the phone connected via BT it is perfect, but I really would like to be able to use my phone as a phone.

All phones require a strong signal in order to provide good reliable service. If you live in an area where there are hills and sparse coverage (few cell towers) no phone (Android or iPhone) is going to give you satisfactory coverage. I'm not suggesting that you shouldn't go with an iPhone vs your GN4, but you need to have a realistic viewpoint of what coverage to expect. My wife and I both own iPhones but we live in a large metro area where coverage is very good, however, there are times when we are away where coverage is spotty.

Oh I know that but in Android phones it is a known fact that some devices have better radios, and get stronger signal in sketchy areas than others do. My DroidX for example was unable to get any data signal in my house or on my property, my GN4 does get data signal at times and the phone signal is a bit stronger on the GN4 than it was on the DroidX or the Galaxy Nexus, or GN2 did.

My other half has a dumb phone that gets great phone call reception even inside the house.

That is what I am trying to find out, do iPhones have better radios than Samsung Galaxy.

I really wish I did know someone close by with an iPhone so I could find out first hand, but I don't.

My wife's iPhone 5 and my Galaxy S4 show signal strengths within 1 or 2 dBm of each other, even in low signal areas of, say, -110 dBm. This is on Verizon. Neither are as good as many old flip phones and some early smartphones, like those from Motorola.
