iPhone SMS Via Macbook Pro

Does anyone know if there is a app available on the app store were you can text from you Macbook Pro instead of, off your iPhone?

this can be done through AIM or another similar chat client

simply add +1 followed by your 10 digit phone number (without spaces) to your buddy list, and voila, SMS away!

and, if you don't want to use SMS's on your iPhone, just do that instead.

Could you make clearer instructions for this please? I take it there needs to be a network connection, and that the +1 means it's USA only...
