I had this dumb grin on my face watching this. At one point I had to laugh out loud with amazement. Yeah, that's what I call a "win" Apple. Good job!

My mom has issues using a normal cell phone, I'm so tempted to show her this video to prove to her that it's easy to use, but... I don't wanna offend her.

(Note: if this really is "Anna's" first time using the iPhone, it's impressive how quickly she picked up scrolling through the photos.)

I'm not going to lie, my mom can't even turn on the tv with the remote. She knows how, but change one thing (God forbid the tv is on a different input) I have to drop everything I'm doing to go help.

Maybe, just MAYBE, she'd be able to figure this one out

Now it just needs some applications for kids! OR try surfing to some and let her play with them. Since small kids can't use mice very well, touch is perfect for them.

Now, as a touchscreen developer, I always have about a dozen different devices around my home office, from huge ruggedized laptops down to small handhelds.

From the time my daughter was about 2 years old, I put out a ruggedized touchscreen laptop with WiFi in her playroom, with custom bookmarks. In no time at all, she knew dozens of menus on lots of kids websites. She even learned to drag screen objects with her fingertip, which is pretty hard to do.

She's now four, and can easily use both touch and mice. Now she often borrows one of my touch handheld Windows CE devices with handwriting recognition. She practices drawing her numbers and letters on it with a stylus (don't need it, but it's more like a pencil)... and then seeing what the device recognizes. This has really helped her handwriting.

I highly recommend touch screen monitors for anyone with small children. It gives them freedom and abilities they couldn't have otherwise.

He immediately turned it over, rolled the ball with his finger, watched the screen and grinned. The human mind is an amazing thing, especially before it is ruined by schools.

Well... that's cute and two-year olds are certainly inquisitive... but I think you have to admit, pass a two-year old the average phone, and they'd probably get bored when things don't immediately happen for them. They are far more likely to call someone than get into any of the programs (and they likely wouldn't be able to leave those programs easily).

The girl in the video was navigating through ALL the sections of the iPhone, one after the other with minimal/no help. I thought it was great that she knew how to keep hitting home, after she'd seen enough of the last app she used. If a two-year old got a hold of my last phone, and I had to guess how long it would take her to find the photo album and start browsing it... well, let's just say I wouldn't even think my mother could find it, let alone a 2 year old (heck, I can't even remember, now that I think about it...! I'd have to click around first). Pretty durn cool.

I was playing with my four year old cousin and she figured out the iPhone in a matter of minutes. We end up watching an hour of youtube videos on it, and it was amazing to me how she could easily scroll, click, play, and search through all of it. She then asked me to play games on it, and didn't quite get it that it couldn't do games yet.
