I am on my my 5th iPhone at the moment, after returning four for various defects. My latest one is ok, apart from it is the first i have had with a yellow screen. I want to try restoring the software from 2.0 54345 to 54347. However, i no longer have the software restore file (i think it ends in .ipsw or something). So, i have two requests:

a) Does anyone know where it is stored on a mac after iTunes downloads it? If so, i may be able to find it on my Time Machine disk. Or...

b) Does anybody have a torrent link for it, or would be kind enough to put it on a file sharing website?

Help would be much appreciated. Alternatively, any other tips on removing the yellow would be much appreciated!

It's stored in /Users/nameofdisk/Library/iTunes

thanks very much.

can you remember how to manually update an iPhone from a restore file? I think it was something like how alt and drag it to iTunes or something...

I actually am not sure how to manually update the phone. Can you just restore the package from Time Machine then ask iTunes to do the process automatically? Sorry, my knowledge of the topic is pretty sparse.

For reference, to manually install an old software image hold Alt and click the "Check for Update" button, then locate the restore file.
