Hi,
I'm using an iPhone 3G, OS 3.1, with iTunes 9.0 on a MacBook running OS 10.5.8, and I'm having a problem with songs disappearing.
The iPhone is set to manually manage music (from my library of about 20,000 songs)
Here's what I've done (re-produceable):
- plugged iPhone USB into MacBook
- in iTunes, clicked on Device > iPhone > Music
- manually deleted all songs from the iPhone
- clicked "Autofill" with settings "Choose items randomly" checked (the rest unchecked) and "Reserve space for disk use" set to 400 MB.
- waited until finished, and there around 1900 songs copied to the iPhone, and about 400 MB free (as seen on the device's summary page)
- unplugged iPhone, checked in Settings > General > About page that all the 1900 songs are there -- check.
- rebooted phone
Then:
- plugged iPhone USB into MacBook
- in iTunes checked for 1900 songs again -- check.
- synced iphone in iTunes (the iPhone is set to manually sync)
- after a longer-than-usual wait to sync, it finishes
- music page now shows only 1287 songs on the device, and the device summary page shows 4.07 GB free (same shows in the iPhone's Settings > General > About page)
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
It's never happened to me before, so I'm wondering if the OS 3.1 or iTunes 9.0 (or both) updates have something to do with it.
Your comments would be appreciated, thanks,
-Yochi
