iPhone speaker

Hi everyone,

I have just purchased an iphone 3G and it may have a problem...

On the bottom of the iPhone, on either side of the dock connector, there are two grilles that I presumed to be for speakers, however sound is only coming out of the left one. Is this correct? Is the other one for the microphone?

Any guidance would be appreciated.
 
every time i see a post about a speaker I want to kill myself. Please... Annoying people of the world who just start new threads instead of using the nifty little search button.... STOP!

Can some macrumors person create a sticky at the top of the page that says THERE IS ONLY (1) One speaker at the bottom of the phone? That might decrease the amount of retarded questions asked about it...
 
I agree there should be a sticky with "iPhone only have 1 speaker!" or something similar as the title, in both this forum, and the regular iPhone forum.

I feel sorry for the poster whenever I see these threads. :)
 
I use a number of forums and am always perplexed by the anger directed towards users for this particular transgression. It's hardly difficult to ignore a thread and the title of mine made the subject matter very clear. More importantly, swearing and calling someone retarded are exceptionally rude and inappropriate. It's quite possible to be polite when correcting somebody's mistake, especially when it's entirely unintentional. Ultimately there are much bigger/more important things in life to get worked up about.

I'm sorry but I would suggest that your thread title of "iPhone Speaker" is less than clear for a number of the members here. What about the iPhone speaker? You don't have it pluralized so one might assume you know there is only one speaker but have some other issue with it. The more specific you can make your thread titles, the easier it is for members to decide whether it is worth even opening the thread. Lately there have been a lot of new threads started asking why only one of the speakers is working. When waves like these kinds of posts come, it is almost like spam in that you have to filter through and ignore them, in order to find the threads that are worth your time. In other words, they add unnecessary "noise" to the forums. Hope this helps you to understand other members vitriol.
