Iphone speakers

The Iphone has two speakers. Are they supposed to have equal volume? I can barely hear one. My Iphone is a 3G, purchased in late November. Thanks

The second speaker was disabled in late November with the update of 2.1. Are you running 2.1 or later?

Left speaker if the screen is facing you = speaker
Right is the microphone.
