Hi there,

a few days ago I got a call on my XR while I talked to some people. I took it and told the person I would call her back. I ended the call, put the phone facedown on the table and continued talking with the people around me. 20 minutes later we heard a voice from my pocket. I found out that the iPhone had called the person back and that we could hear her through my AirPods 2 in my pocket (of course in the charging case).

I wouldn't believe anybody who came up with a story like that (I didn't touch the phone, Hey Siri was deactivated, the AirPods were in the case). And I just can't image how that could happen. Quite spooky. Any ideas? Don't want that to happen again.

The only thing I can think here is Voice Dail thought it heard something and called the contact. You can switch it off;

Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Voice Dial.

Thanks so much! I would never have found that. Moreover: I always thought, that disabling "Hey Siri" prevented the iPhone from listening at all. Obviously I'm wrong: "...always enabled." Is there a way to stop that?

I'm not sure I'm afraid...I've never used Siri and have it disabled entirely.
