Hi all,

This issue has been intermittently happening for a few weeks now, but it's definitely given up the ghost today. Hard resets, cleaning headphone jack with tissue paper, and even isopropyl alcohol hasn't done the trick.

As such, is there an app that can force the output for speakers rather than headphones?

It's probably a hardware defect. Take it to apple.

I had this issue a few weeks ago after possible dust and a few droplets of water possibly getting into the headphone port, This was a 4 Month old iPhone 6s Plus. After Verizon walked me through some steps and had me restore the iPhone to factory settings they determined it was a defective unit and sent me a new one and I sent the old one back.

Well, I've already tried all the troubleshooting as suggested in the threads you've mentioned, which were already noted in my original post. My question was if there was an app that can manually set the output.

I assume the answer is no. I'll pay up and get it fixed by Apple. :)
Glad you did your due diligence, but there were several courses of action suggested in those posts that you didn't mention. Best of luck. Hope it all works out.

This has happened to my wife on both her 5c and 6s. Both times the issue was resolved by cleaning the headphone jack. No real need to take to Apple usually.

Thank you both for your reassurance -- it seems to have spontaneously fixed itself!

Best wishes and thank you for taking the time to reply.
