Hey everyone. so i have a iphone and it had been jailbroken from someone i bought it off of on craigslist. well one day i went to go update my software and then my phone would not turn on unless on charger, so after a day or two my phone cut off and then turned on but it had the itunes logo plus the cord pic. i tried to re-jailbreak it using greenposi0n but it would get half way thru the jailbreak and say done but it was stuck on the black screen with all the white words on it but you could tell it was not fully done. i then tried using snowbreeze v2.9.5 and restoring it but halfway through again it gave me error code 1600 which means it was in recovery mode and not dfu mode but i tried everything. i even called somone who had a bussiness fixing iphones but they said i need to hook the iphone up to the computer it was jailbroken on but i bought it off craigslist. then thought about just going to the apple store but it has a conversion kit and i know that they will turn it down. what should i do?? please someone help i need a phone!!

Stopped reading there. Why, WHY, WHY?! did you ever update the software? That is the first cardinal rule of jailbreaks is that you don't update the software.

Then worst of all, you go on a tool rampage swaping one tool for another, and trying a mix-n-match approach. It doesn't work that way! Ever.

You know what to do? Just go to iTunes and hit the Restore button. Stop messing with it.

Put the phone in DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) mode and "restore as new" in iTunes. iTunes will install a fresh iOS 5.1.1 and the phone will be factory default. Then you can use the latest absinthe or redsn0w to jailbreak. Then after the jailbreak, assuming you have recently synced your data via iCloud or iTunes, sync it back to the phone and you should be all set.

First of all:
What phone?
What iOS version was it at?
What current BB?

Before you update to stock, do you need to UNLOCK as well?

updating to stock might close that possibility

i tried restoring it thru itunes but no luck it just gives me errors like 21 1600 1202 just weird. and i never been an iphone person so i had noooo clue u shouldnt update a jailbroken iphone. ill be honest, i have no clue what the jailbreak even does! but its a iphone 4 (not cdma but the other version) iOS was 5.1.0 i think. and also tried dfu mode but it always gives me an error. how do u restore to factory default? is there any hope left for my little yellow iphone :(
