iphone suddenly wants to restore, help!

Hi Guys,

I was minding my own business and enjoying itunes on my iphone when all of a sudden the plug / itunes icon appeared on the screen, when I plug it into my mac itunes says "itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. you must restore this iphone before it can be used with itunes", needles to say I was ipissed...

I am running 1.1.3 and have been upgrading the firmware myself (I'm in NZ so the phones technically aren't available here yet), can anyone out there enlighten me (or point me in the right direction) as to the process for fixing this issue? Do I need to restore it via itunes so it's locked / deactivated then jailbreak it and start upgrading the firmware from version to version? (I really hope not...)

try using independence (google it) first to see if it kicks it out of recovery mode
if not, restore to 113 and use Zibri's unlock for it (google zibri)
