Since upgrading to 1.02, my iPhone has killed itself 3 times. When the phone is locked, it will get real warm and kill a fully charged battery in about 2-3 hours. When this goes unnoticed it will eventually kill itself. Otherwise, it just gets *real* warm and drains the battery faster than when using it. I thought the first time that it happened that it was a Mail issue, but now it seems it might be related to Safari activity. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm concerned that it can kill itself quicker than I can when using it.

Sounds like a faulty download, i would restore your iphone and see if it persists.

Really? There are so many checksums that the disk image wouldn't have been mounted for the upgrade let alone the firmware upgrade actually succeeding if there was a faulty download.

I can't really remember the last time I had a faulty downloading, must have been way before XModem and ZModem :). Thanks to error checking/correcting protocols the "faulty download" would been miscarried long before it completed.

ok, fine, still sounds like a good time to restore, whatever it is that happens.

I had this happen a few times. Like it is stuck downloading / getting email and continuously transmitting.

Mine has done this once too. It was rather annoying, but as long as it doesn't do it again, I'm not going to worry too much. It seems to me that a software lockup of some sort must have caused one of the radios to stay on, which obviously takes lots of power.

I make it a habit to terminate open apps that I don't plan to use by holding the Home button down until they're gone. I tend to believe that it makes my battery last a lot longer. I don't think I've run it to empty before 10 p.m. hardly ever, and I use it pretty regularly all day...but that's pretty subjective I guess.

I'm pretty sure certain apps are going to run the battery down just sitting in memory.

Just a thought.
:)
