I just plugged in my iPhone to sync some new podcasts and it's not working. The bar that shows the progress in iTunes is showing a continuous "thinking" thing. Does anyone know what the problem might be??

Thank everyone so much for your help.

so nothing is syncing then as a result of the continual progress bar or only some podcasts are not syncing?

Nothing is syncing. It started off on "Syncing Contacts" and got no further. I unchecked that to try and see if it was the problem... nope. It just stalls on wherever it starts..

I had a similar issue, where I would get an error every time I synced the phone, and it would not complete. I ended up restoring the phone through iTunes, and then syncing all of my content again.

I think my problem came from some corruption from an interrupted sync. The cable was loose, and came of mid-sync. When I tried to re-sync, the error came up.

As long as you didn't jailbreak (hack) your phone, I don't think you have anything to lose by restoring it...

I suggest two things. Do a restore of the iPhone, it sounds like you only recently got this iPhone so it will only be minimally burdensome to restore and set it up again. I would also just run repair permissions in disk utility, that is if you have a Mac, otherwise I suppose the holidays are only another year away when you can ask for a new Apple computer.;)

I just had the same issue and I had taken a bunch of photos that I couldnt sync and did NOT want to lose. A reboot of the iPhone fixed it. ;)
