I'm not sure if anyone else has thought of this (hell, it could even be a feature on the iPhone that I just dont know about), but I was just wondering....You know how you scroll through your contacts list on the iPhone? Well what if you have a LOT of contacts? Wouldn't scrolling all the way to V be a pain in the but? My thought was to include a feature that would allow you to make the shape of the letter on the screen and it would automatically go to that point on the list. For ex, move your finger in the shape of a "V" and it would go straight to the V's in your contacts without you having to move your finger up and down multiple times (and having you do that would often result in going past the point of where you want to go). I just thought this would make it more simple to use. Thoughts?

I think that would be very hard to implement. For example, what if the name began with "I" -- how would it tell the difference between scrolling and the letter I?

Also, iirc there is a screen where you can jump to a particular letter.

yeah I see what you're saying about the "I" thing....and I had to idea about the letter selection thing....so my idea is pointless lol

They probably already have that. Watch the Keynote again. When they're at the address book they have a list of letters from top to bottom. I bet you that if you click on a letter it will take you to that one.

I can't see it being a problem, I can go through all my song quickly on my iPod, and I have more Songs(1k+) then almost anyone does people..not to mention it can't be slower then a normal phone

i thought about the same thing. jobs most probably has an elegant solution. i think apple would at least put a search box for a contact's name.
