I spoke with our local cingular store about the iPhone and she said that they are not getting any of the phones at first launch and she doesn't know when she will get any.

The manager also said that the iPhone was going to be released in only major populated areas at first, and that it would be sometime before any phones make their way to her store.

She said if I want to be one of the first to have the iPhone I should take a trip to San Francisco which is 140 miles away from where I live.

and something else...

according to the commercial I just watched from the apple website it indicates you need a NEW 2 year contract MINIMUM. So, does this mean as a new cingular customer (2 months old) that I would not be allowed to buy one? That seems impossible to me that they would not allow their existing customers the phone but I am not sure how else to read this.

No. they will let you buy one. You will just have to sign a new two year contract.

she works for cingular...shes probably lying or talking out of her ass. All these idiot store personal (apple and cingular) have no idea what the **** they are talking about. I have gotten three different stories from my local apple store in just the last couple weeks. One of my oldest and best friends works at the apple store and he even has no idea what is going on, and he is being truthful with me. Steve Jobs is not stupid, they have had plenty of time to pump these little guys out and package them up. They won't have select stores, that doesnt make any damn sense. they are looking to sell these and make profits...remember:rolleyes:

Think with your brains people...a great deal of fanboys are getting quite upset over something i think is going to be quite fizzled come june 29th:)
