So here's what happened...I went to a friends house for a party and he ended up passing out on a bed. I took the floor area, and tried to sleep. Around 1/2 an hour later, he ends up throwing up and my phone got splashed with vomit. I cleaned it up, but now, it just doesn't want to charge, and it keeps telling "This accessory is not made to work with iPhone". There are no traces of vomit in it, so i'm unsure of what to do. The phone is fully functioning, except it won't charge now.

Here's an image of the charging screen:

Upon further looking, I found that the dock connector water damage indicator has turned red...i'm going to have to assume vomit got into it. Is there anything else I can do? Or will I have to pay $199 to get a new one?

Can you really get a new one for $199 or will you have to pay the non-subsidized price?

You could get the applecare protection plan ($70) and they might fix it for you. heres the link. I also heard that you could just replace the red portion with white paper, although I dont know how...

From what i've heard, you can get a refurbished 3G (not the 3GS) model for $199.

The AppleCare protection only extends the coverage, so it doesn't cover accidental damage.

I guess i'll try the alcohol pads and then see what happens.
