Hi there,

I'm probably getting an iPhone from someone who bought one in the US but doesn't really use it. I'm getting it almost for free:D

Anyway, I'm not really sure what unlock method was used and it it's on 1.1.4
If it's not on 1.1.4, what would be the best method to upgrade ?
Can you restore the iPhone to a factory/locked state with itunes and then do an unlock with iPlus ? Or could that brick the phone ?

The whole unlocking thing is pretty complicated with all the versions, different apps, bootloaders etc.

yeah ziphone will do it all for you. You can sim unlock, jailbreak and activate, whatever bootloader, whatever software version (as far as I know).

You can also choose an option that will take the phone back to it's original state, as if it came out of the box, perfect if you want to send your iphone back to apple for some reason and you don't want them to see what you've been up to.

So the method that was first used to unlock it is unimportant ? Even if it's a 4.6 bootloader ? (I don't know that yet)
I just need to restore it to factory condition with ziphone, update to 1.1.4 and unlock it again with ziphone? And ziphone then installs the 3.9FB bootloader if it's a 4.6 iPhone ?

That's the way...

Okay, the thing that I'm worried about is that it was a 4.6 phone that was unlocked with Ziphone 2.5... Changing the bootloader to a permanent 3.9 version. How do you find out what bootloader the iphone has ?
