woohoo..

so i received my iphone today (3 days to arrive from usa and no customs tax!)

unlocking was simple once i finally got to use the iPhone dock itself.. i started off using my regular iPod dock (i figured it would be the same??)

anyway, out of the box with no mods, my voicemail works (not visual of course) and youtube works

i entered the orange PAYG edge settings and they work too.. although i have to manually modify them as i dont want constant edge connection on my PAYG sim - only put £5 credit on!! lol)

overall, a very smooth process...

my only concern when using it was the constant clicking of the Home button to switch application and also the fact that many apps can be open at the same time.. like, there is not a quit app button or something..
(altho i did read that if you hold the Home button down for about 10 secs it will force quit all apps - not sure if that is a good thing?)

Thanks to iPhoneDevTeam!!

Good on you mate, I'v just bought my iPhone off eBay today and intend to unlock for use with my PAYG Orange sim. One question, how do I find the edge settings needed to connect, and how much does it cost?

Thanks,
Alistair

got no idea how much it costs, but let me just say that i tried loading the bbc site, and i didn't even let it finish rendering and now i'm over £1 down!! lol..

edge settings are in settings->network->edge (or something like that. my iphone is currently charging downstairs)

Ah right think I'll give that a miss and stick with wi-fi, thanks anyway!

I'm afraid it cant be turned on as its not a feature as of yet for the iPhone, yet another feature missing as well as a character count for SMS.

On the bluetooth front I also had problems pairing my Samsung Wep200 to my iPhone so far no success.

On another note providing you had a mac you can upgrade your iPhones to 1.1.4 and have a bit of software unlock your iPhone and your sim, it really does work! http://ijailbreak.com/

Check it out. :)
