iPhone unlocking sound not working?

I notice that sometimes the unlocking noise that the phone makes doesn't always work when I'm opening my iPhone.

I'm talking about when you 'slide to unlock', you hear that little click noise.

Sometimes it makes the noise, sometimes it doesn't, anyone else having this problem?

If you set it to vibrate, it won't make the sound.

Is your phone on vibrate when the clicking doesn't occur?

check to make sure its not set to vibrate and under the sounds menu in setting make sure it is on.

Just to clarify, in settings, I have vibrate set to off when not on silent, and vibrate set to on when on silent.

It still doesn't make sense because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, without changing the vibrating settings.

I had the same phenomenon on the 3g white i was using earlier this week. the phone was not set to vibrate with the side switch, yet the locking/unlocking sound went away after a sync operation.

i rebooted the phone, and the problem went away.

When I restarted, it fixed for a bit, but then went back to no clicking sound.

Restore maybe? Is it absolutely imperative that it not play that sound file? I mean.. I'm just as picky as the next person, but you can always try exchanging it.. running the risk of the next one having a more serious, more annoying problem.

Had the same thing happen to me a couple times. A reboot fixes it. I am pretty sure it is a software problem, not a hardware problem, and hope the next update fixes it.
