Iphone update from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 ?

Hey everyone I have done a lot of reading and I jail breaked my Iphone using IBrick with version 1.0.2. I dont think I unlocked it to other services unless IBrick does that on its own. So my question is can I update to the latest firmware version 1.1.1 without breaking the phone? Also would you reccomend keeping the phone at 1.0.2 or updating it? Thanks
