Iphone Updating Help/Unlock

Hi I have a 1.1.1 iphone that has been used with at&t since it was bought, I now want to unlock it with ziphone. I want to restore it to 1.1.4 first but when I plug it into the computer, I get right away the activate iphone screen with no option to restore and update to 1.1.4. What do I do?

If it's already been used with AT&T I can't imagine why you'd be getting the activate screen. Are you an AT&T customer? Were you the one using it or did you buy an used iPhone?

No I just bought it and it was reset to factory settings, so how can i update it before using ziphone when I have the at&t activate screen? Do I have to put the phone into recovery mode?

You didn't answer my first question. If you're already an AT&T customer, activate it. Otherwise I have no idea what you need to do.

No I am not an At&t customer thats why I want to unlock it using ziphone, so how would i go about updating it when I am at the at&t update screen?
