iPhone updating non-existent app

So I finally decided to updated from 5.0 to 5.1.1. Only because I had a number of app updates that wouldn't go through without 5.1. And as expected, I ran into the common issues after updating. Photos disappeared from Album, but memory capacity still indicated they were still in storage. Battery runs warmer, and along with that battery drains quicker. App store wouldn't load. And a number of freezing apps. However, with the exception of the quicker battery drain (not ridiculously quick, but definitely runs down faster than before on normal day use), after an inconvenient restore from back-up all the other issues were resolved. Photos were restored, App Store comes up, and so far no apps freezing. But, one strange issue just popped up today, I tried searching online of this issue but couldn't find one. I launched App Store app, and it told me I had several updates. All but one updated. The one that didn't update gave me a notification that it was no longer available in the App Store, and to make things even more perplexing, I don't even have the app installed on my phone. So now I have this annoying badge telling me I have this one updated to an non-existent app. Anyone ever heard of this, and more importantly, how do I get rid of the update? Oh Apple, you never fail to impress and disappoint at the same time.

Is the app in your iTunes library? If so, connect your iPhone, delete it from your library, and sync your iPhone.

Hmmm...not sure. I'll have to check that when I get home. But doesn't the apps in iTunes update when you sync? So if you deleted the app from your phone a year ago, and have backed up and synced numerous times since, it would remain deleted? Guess, it might be another glitch with 5.1.1.

Nope, not a glitch. The Library contains you've download. Until you actually delete from the library, it will be in there and will sync to the device.

Interesting. But if that were the case, wouldn't all the apps in my iTunes library that has updated since I deleted them from my phone be wanting to update as well? I have a number of apps that are still in the iTunes library, but not on my phone. And I backup and sync regularly. This is the first time this has happened or even heard about it. And it happened right after I updated from the stock 5.0 to 5.1.1. Really curious to know why it's only this one particular app.

Depends if you have iTunes auto sync apps.

Just go to the below screen in iTunes, uncheck the app, and apply it.

That's the problem, the app isn't installed on my phone, so nothing to check off. And looking through my list of apps in the iTunes Apps, cPro Craigslist for iPhone is nowhere to be found. It's a ghost app. lol Guess I'm just SOL, and have to deal with it. The pains of updating iOS.

Haha! Will you look at that. I plugged in my phone to iTunes to follow batting's tip. Didn't find the culprit app in my list in iTunes. I haven't done a Sync or a backup, just plugged my phone to my Mac. So after going through my list, I was about to eject my phone, when I noticed the badge to update the ghost app was gone. Launched App Store, and it was no longer in the Updates section. Ya...definitely another glitch with iOS 5.1.1, logic dictates that it can be no other reason. Oh, well. I'm just glad I don't have to look at that badge anymore. Thanks for all the tips.

Here's another related question. In older versions of iTunes, you used to be able to view all your apps (installed on your phone or unchecked and removed) in one page. From there you were able to select apps and manually delete them from the iTunes list. That's not in iTunes 10.5 anymore. How do I manually delete unchecked apps from the iTunes list now? Selecting and hitting delete doesn't do it, and doing a right click doesn't pop up any options.
