I just completed 1 year with att and I have a family plan. I have a iphone 3g and my wife has a LG shine and her sister who is also in our plan a Lg shine phone.

1. Now my sister who lives outside of US wants an iphone can I go to att store and get a $99 iphone.
2. Can my wife upgrade to a iphone.

Please kindly suggest.

I don't have the answer to either of those, but only the primary line is eligible for an upgrade after the first year. Everything else would be the discounted early upgrade price for the iPhone. 299 for 3G, 399 for 16GB 3GS and 499 for 32GB 3GS.

well

go too https://www.wireless.att.com there you will find the answers you seek. if you can upgrade or add a line. also call visit AT&T keep in mind if your sister out of the country you will have to jailbreak and unlock it for her to use it. if you don't know how look on craigslist shouldn't cost more then $20 you can also visit www.iclarified.com for tutorials.

Since the primary phone is unde my wifes name and she has an lg shine. Can she upgrade to the iphone and use her existing lg shine and give the iphone to my sister or will att activate the iphone for my wife. Little confused with how all this works

AT&T will activate the iPhone for your wife and make you get a data plan for it, which is required. Maybe someone else can tell you how to get out of it.

I believe you can transfer your wife's upgrade eligibility to your sister-in-law's line as long as they are all under the same account. Your best bet is to speak to AT&T about it, preferably in person when you are ready to do it since each AT&T rep you speak to will probably tell you something different. If I've learned anything from these forums, it's that no matter what you want done, if the particular rep you're talking to doesn't know how to do it or whether they are allowed to do it, it ain't gonna happen. By the same token, sometimes stuff that shouldn't happen in a million years does, because an AT&T rep has the power to do it but doesn't realize it shouldn't be done.

Hope this helps,
Tom
