Currently facing abit of a conundrum with regards to my iPhone..

I love the device, but with the iPad looming I'm putting some though to how much I use my iPhone and for what. Thinking about the uses for my iPhone, other than calling and texting, there are few of them that appear to be suited to iPhone than iPad.. particularly web browsing.

I'm also considering the cost, too. My iPhone is Pay as You Go but still costs a fair bit a month when taking into account internet packages and credit top ups, and I could probably cut my monthly bills by half by downgrading to a cheaper phone on a contract. I could also then sell the iPhone for abit of money to put towards the iPad, which is certainly a consideration.

Part of me knows I'll miss my iPhone if I sell it, but at the same time another part wonders whether I'll use it enough to justify it's features and cost if I also own an iPad.

Have any iPad owners experienced a significant change in their iPhone usage (other than to make calls and texts - obviously people still need a phone to do this) since buying an iPad?

i barely touch my iPhone except for phone and texting and of course browsing on bed in sleeping position. i can't do browsing in sleeping position with iPad, it's just too heavy to use on that position.

Since my iPad purchase on April 3rd I've used my iPhone probably 90% less. I use it as a phone, to text and as it's JB, to tether my iPad when it leaves the house.

I carry the iPad with me pretty much all the time for work and the iPhone is now more of a phone and hotspot. My thoughts are leaning to a different phone, the Evo 4G as Sprint is in the process of turning on 4G here where I live as I type this. Come June it very likely I'll make the move to have access to a 4G network, much more widespread 3G coverage and a cheaper plan as well. The iPad has totally changed my computing habits and drastically reduced my iPhone usage. I won't miss the iPhone, and in fact gave my my 3GS to my wife and took her 3G so she could get better use of it's features as I simply don't need them. Didn't think I would take the iPad with me ad much as I do, it's proven to be very portable and very powerful device for me. Good luck with your decision.

Around the home I barely use my iPhone now, I used to whip it out for a quick bit of surfing rather than firing up the Mac, these days that's the iPad's job.

I tend to leave my iPad at home most days though, it's just a 15 min train ride to work and I still use my iPhone for surfing etc then.

But it doesn't half feel small and almost toy like after getting used to the size if the iPad

My iPad Nano will always be my sidekick. All my email accounts in my pocket. Quick access to google and other little apps like Around Me, I want, Yellow Pages, Movie Times, Know your rights, etc..

It's hard to beat the power and portability. Don't fool yourself thinking your gonna have the ipad with you all the time.

Universal Apps is also another reason to keep the phone.

I used to use my iPhone all the time but now with the iPad I rarely use it even if at all other than for calls and texts. I sold My 3GS and is using a 3G now. Even the 3G I feel like I could sell and get a regular dumb phone.

that's what she said

it's not heavy when i'm laying with my back on the wall/couch, but the sleeping position when your back is resting on your bed and your head resting on the pillow and you hold the iPad with only 1 left hand on the air. it's quite heavy, well maybe i need to go to the gym.

I'm doing this right now.... Except I'd rather be asleep!

I rest it on my stomach, and when I want to type I angle it up on the left corner and type with my right hand. It's worked well for me so far, but it did take some adjustment.

I've noticed that I use my iPhone a bit less as of late as well - the iPad is simply better suited to certain tasks. I do use my iPhone quite a bit still though. It's not going anywhere in my book :)
