iPhone User: I Used 662,258 Text Messages in One Month

I doubt this. I'd like to see what these messages were, to send one every 4 seconds he must have just wrote "lol" or something. Doesn't it take time to load up the SMS bit and the actual sending process? *not used an iPhone but on every other phone I own it takes a second or 2 to send.

Well, he might have sent each message to 10 people at once, that really speeds up the process.
And it's not like this is his regular usage, he only did this for the record so each message could be just one letter. It would still count.
Seems highly unlikely. There was an article a few months ago about 2 guys that tried to break the world record for most text messages in a month. They got up to 217,000, and that was in a deliberate attempt to get as many as possible.

Obviously the people who are posting about it in this thread? At least it's more interesting than topics about celebrities.
What a waste of resources, and you wonder why cell providers are putting caps on data. Next, they'll be putting caps on text messages for people like this that abuse the system.
This could easily be achieved by subscribing to Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites and having those messages route through text messaging.

The first 2 or 3 hundred thousand were pretty funny; but after that it just started to get old. (I now have 14,000 barring orders against him).
(Seriously, is it possible to set up some kind of "out of office" auto-reply for txts? If so, imagine what might happen if one two people had auto-reply turned on, and one sent a message to the other! They'd be pinging back and forth every few seconds!

I know a mac developer that has created a ton of software. I asked him about this via text a long time ago, and he text back "Hi, I am busy at the moment, I will get to your message when I can, Thanks!"
This made me remind myself of that and I still think this would be a good idea.
I've gone through 2000 in a single hour when I was part of a group organising a protest demo. Sending long updates to 50-60 people at a time burns through the messages.
Nowadays I'm lucky to break 300 texts in a month.
If you created a group with 1000 people in it, and sent it 200 messages in one day, with each message being 3 texts long, hey, that's 600,000 texts in a single day! FTW.

Easy:
Find a 10.5 thousand character text and sent it via sms, Done. No automated thing there, Just a long piece of text needed
Or just go to twitter and sign up for sms updates and follow everybody on there.
Or have your computer forward all your email to sms and then sign up for all the email newsletters you can.
Post your email address on a website that is well known and forward it to sms
For more dramatic effect, combine all of those into one

Minus the fact that those message only count as 1 message.
I can use a group message for example and send out a text to 100 people. It counts as 1 text message for me.
One month last year I sent around 11,000 texts and I though that was an insane amount. A text every 4 seconds 24/7 is beyond unbelieveable.
Maybe it's different there but here if I did that it would count as 100 texts.
It says sent and received, so its combined. He probably told all of his friends to spam him or used one of those online sites to send a bunch of texts.
Either way, lame whether or not he actually legitimately did this or he used a program.
