After having the thing for 2 days nearly I love it but two things are bugging me.

Firstly im in the UK using a T-Mobile sim with unlimited internet bolt on.

The first problem is no EDGE?? Even tho my settings are set to that, GPRS works fine but is slow as. I've googled to find the settings but no dot in my GPRS square :( Does T-Mobile have edge coverage or am I doing something wrong?

Secondly... it doesn't vibrate... at all :( Now after some googling some people think its just a stuck motor, others a broke phone and others its the firmware...

Now the middle point could be tricky and I would have to wait until I bought a O2 sim to get it replaced properly (this thing is brand new btw, used for 19 mins call time and was one of the last ones to be bought in the O2 sale, its immaculate, hasn't been dropped, etc but I am the 2nd user...)

The last point is easier to deal with but i'd rather wait till V2 was cracked to restore etc and I don't have the original O2 sim either.

So whats up with my vibrate and EDGE?

Cheers

Vibration - no idea

EDGE - google "T-Mobile EDGE coverage map" and enter your postcode on their site to check if T-Mob have EDGE coverage where you live.

BTW, standard 02 PAYG SIMs work in the original iPhone w/o hacking, if this is an option for you.

Thanks, but it just brings up USA related topics on forums  I've now learnt that apparently T-Mobile have poor EDGE coverage.. booo! (My fault really should have researched!!)

Yes it is, im going to go into an O2 store later this month to see if they will match what I get with T-Mobile.

It would also make life easier with regards to unlocking etc.

Cheers

02 has only 30% of the UK in EDGE coverage - very poor and 3G is even worse! lol

Well, ask for the text anytime SIM - i think it's great top up £10 and get 300 free texts, £20 for 500 texts and £30 for unlimited (i text more than talk).

If you do go for a 02 SIM, you have to go onto their site and fill in a form to "add iPhone services to my SIM". Wait until they text you back then plug in and update :) Anything else i can help with just ask :D

Well I was more thinking of the £25 a month with the free Unlimited internet got 600/1000.

I currently get for £22.50, 350, 650 and unlimited WiFi, and Web and Walk.

I'll go into O2 tomorrow to see what the score is, if they will do a deal then I'll cancel my contract and move over

Edit: Oh and O2 have EDGE in places I go to so all is good there

With the iPhone internet bolt-on from 02, you get unlimited (really unlimited, not fair usage policy shizzle) internet for £10/month that comes out of your top-up credit. So for £20/month you'd get 500 texts, unlimited internet and £10 worth of call time.

I'm not sure you'd beat or even match the deal that you're on - the closest iPhone contract tariff to yours is £35/month.

If you do beat it - i'd like to know the name of the tariff :)
