iPhone Versus Mac

Well... The Mac I have is much slower than the iPhone, as it's an extremely old G4 tower. So, browsing on the iPhone is quite a bit quicker. However, the rest of my computers are Windows or *nix, and those are much faster than the iPhone.
Still, the iPhone is pretty snappy for browsing off of wireless.

You're comparing a phone to a computer.
I have an old Celeron and the iPhone surfs faster.
My P4 is much faster as is my G5 MAC.
Overall a decent experience using wifi.
It depends on the computer that you are placing the iPhone up against.

It's no doubt a slower device. CPU speed is as important as connection speed.
You're lucky the iPhone's CPU is running at 500+ MHz.
You should've been around for a circa 1999 smartphone with a 100 to 200Mhz processor. Waiting for a webpage's Javascript logic to finish its onload routine could be like watching paint dry.
Thank you for the feedback. I ran some speed tests with wildly varying results, which led me to conclude they're worthless. Instead, I chalk up the pokey WiFi speed to the processor as some of you noted. I'm typing this on my iPhone natch.
I find that browsing on my Mac is much faster, practically 5 times faster, so your iPhone is fine.

Yeah, mine too. The latency on the iPhone is kinda highish, about 56k speeds (250-300ms for me) on wifi. It also has a pretty slow processor, has to account for zooming and all that on its resolution, etc.
