I'm planning to buy the Iphone upon its release in the Netherlands.

As I will be using it for business purposes as well, my question is whether it can record voice memo's or not

Please let me know if those of you already using the Iphone can confirm the feature voice memo

THX in advance for your input

Not yet. Possible in a future update maybe or maybe with the pending release of the SDK.

This feature has been asked for a lot so maybe we will see it from Apple.

VNotes

If you jailbreak the phone you can install VNotes to record voice memos.

iPhone voice memo

I remain flabbergasted that apple has refused to add a simple no-brainer app like voice memo. I'm a songwriter, and this is probably the most important feature I need in a phone. I bought the iPhone assuming that it would have a voice memo feature since almost any cheap cellphone has this feature. Then I assumed that the feature would be coming any day in the next update. Every update disappoints. The third party web apps are less than satisfactory, and require all kinds of jiggery pokery to record & retrieve... all I want to do is press a button and record my idea into the phone. Does anyone know why Apple has so stubbornly refused to add this feature? It's because they hate me, right?

Finally found a GREAT workaround for the Voice Memo problem-- read here: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20070803221625100

I'll add this tip: when you create your contact, that you'll name "Voice Memo" or whatever, create it in your computer's contact manager (Address Book, Outlook etc) then sync that to your iPhone. When I tried to create the contact in the iPhone, it truncated the number after the comma (read the link, you'll understand.)

This works great, much better than any of the web-based apps, and your voice memos will show up right in your visual voicemail.
