IPhone water damage

I bought my iPhone 4s in 2012 and have had almost no problems with it (home buttons still working, on off button still working) other than a stuck volume button. Today, I went kayaking and usually I stay relatively dry so I didn't bother with a plastic baggie or anything. However, once ashore, I discovered my phone and butt had been in a puddle for the past 15+ minutes. The phone was completely black screen, however, when attempting reset, the buzz could be felt and heard. The LED light also remained on and could no be turned off even though it hadn't been in use before. It's currently sitting in rice and I removed the sim card to put into another phone to use, but alot of my stuff is on the water-damaged phone and its a huge pain to resync. Any help? Thanks!

Next time you will bother with a plastic Baggie when you go kayaking.

If you want to Snow Board, Water Rapids, Sea Diving, Parachutes ... etc with your iPhone ...

give a shop and a look to Snow Lizard.

eBay might have them new for $80 or less.

Snow Lizard makes them for the iPhone 4 and 5 .. maybe even for the 6 now.

Out in the boondocks it will even charge your iPhone during daylight hours beside having extra battery in it. Even if it has a Micro USB port in it and not Lightening ... worth the money as you will work it to keep your electronics safe.

Good for Firemen, EMTs, Military application and those who need a real iPhone saver.

I hear it is good to 30 feet underwater as some people apparently need to do that with their iPhone.

Baggies like Condoms ... they do break .. and besides the Dope in the Vatican say you going to Hell if you use one.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the damage is done. In my experience, the solid LED light is a good indicator that the water has got well into the phone. If you have a small light, shine it into the 30-pin port. If it's relatively clean, you should see a small white/pink/red rectangle right in the middle. Do the same for the headphone jack at the top of the phone. These are the two external water indicators. If they are both some shade of pink/red, the phone is unfortunately at a point of no repair.
