iPhone water sensor is light pink but it hasn't been close to water!

The water sensor in the port of my phone is a light shade of pink and Apple won't replace it. It hasn't been NEAR water at all. I need to place my phone because I have a few lines of dead pixels covering up the middle of the screen. The genius bar told me it is unlikely that any water damage caused the grey bars but my warranty isn't valid because of the miniscule water damage.

I swear on all that is holy that this phone has never been near water. Any ideas on how to fix it? I could really use the help before my screen goes completely grey!

Obviously you can't get it fixed via the warranty. So your only other options are to pay to have it fixed or replace the screen yourself.

I had the same problem with my iPod. We concluded that stepping off a cold dry airplane in to a hot humid jetway caused condensation and discolored my moisture sensor. They replaced it without a problem.

The water sensor on the iPhone is WAY less sensitive than the one on Motorola phones and the like. You actually have to GET IT WET or leave it a closed bathroom while you take a shower to activate it.

I'm gonna have to go with
a) pay for a repair
b) get a new one
c) live with it for as long as you can, then get a new one

It's quite hard to get the sensor to get pink. And let's just be honest -- I don't know a single person that NEVER answers the phone when it's raining and they're outside and such.

Warranty is void when the phone is waterdamaged - it's proven by the sensors put in the phone. The placement depends on the manufacturer. Sony Ericsson puts one on the battery, and one inside the phone. It's easy to show that the indicator on the battery is coloured. On the iPhone you obviously can't put it on the battery, so therefore the headjack is a logic choise. It's not like water would just "happen" to get there in the bottom of the headphone jack, while it could be garanteed that water hasn't damaged the cirquitboard.

If you go with paying to repair the screen, I would _guess_ that it could cost you quite a lot... If this happend to me I'd use the phone for as long as I could without repairing it, hoping that there's a new iPhone this summer...
