I finnaly got a chance to use an iphone and I am very smitten with it's beauty and function. However, after all the problems from my 1st generation macbook and other problems I am reading about with this iPhone, I don't think I will buy one until 2nd generation. Anyone have any idea what we can expect from 2nd generation phones? Besides tech, I am mainly hoping for a lower price. Should we expect iphone 2nd gen to come out within 2 years?

If iPhone continues to be the success hit that it is, Apple will likely have an answer in 18 months.

We'll probably see improvements to form factor, lower weight, reduce packing, increase green materials inside the unit, offer more memory, include GPS features, incorporated a faster CPU (latest generation), improve battery life, change design to include a user-replaceable battery, improve durability from lessons learned from version one, increase camera resolution, include camera flash. Additional (less likely) features may include video capability , some kind of television support, and an integrated FM radio.

I know, I'm speculating...

Somewhere before 18 months, Apple will be working on rolling out the phone in foreign markets, as planned. There will likely be changes to those phones to make them work for those carriers, while otherwise keeping one feature set for all iPhones worldwide.

GPS would be ridiculously hard because it soaks up so much battery. but everything is extremely possible =) (man its already light enough, can't imagine it getting lighter!)

IMHO- buy now, enjoy now. The next gen iPhone will undoubtledly be vastly superior, but- <gasp> the one after that will be better still. So, buy it now, sell it in in a year if the new device is that mich better.

There will ALWAYS be a "reason" to wiat. If you wait untill the perfect device comes out, you'll never buy anything.

i agree with what he said:D :apple:
iphone all the way

what differs the iphone is the app development

people will hack
and that extends life support by like 300%

I don't really see the user-replaceable battery happening either. And probably no integrated radio...
