I have a "5 series" LCD and i've looked at "7 series" as well, and it seems like neither has the capacity to produce really bright whites. These screens always seem to have at least a faint yellow haze. Is that just the nature or the displays?
I don't think iPhones were ever meant to be professional Photoshop workstations so, the fact that the "white" on the iPhone display isn't perfect shouldn't surprise anyone
Wow. There most certainly is a difference, but if that doesn't concern, or interest you, no problem.

If you think the whites are bad then check the blacks. No transmissive LCD is capable of producing black.
