My girlfriend has AT&T and wants the iPhone. I was going to buy her one used for her but sh doesn't want thE data plan. Is there anyway possible to use the iPhone on AT&T without getting data forces upon you

Nope. AT&T requires a data plan for ALL smartphones (including iPhone, BlackBerry, etc.).

Besides, the data plan is what makes the iPhone worth it — Internet everywhere.

I know that, but I mean is there anyway to trick att into thinking its not a smart phone... Also she is in college and they have wifi everywere. She mainly wants it for the ipod function and she loves the way the texting works on it.

You can drop the data plan, but you better not get caught using the data on the iPhone because it will get expensive very fast.

I gave my dad my 2G iPhone and he uses without data. I have it unlocked to i can block data from att with an app from cydia.

Get an iPod Touch then. This way, you don't have to worry about it.
