Well, i applied the 10.5.6 DFU mode fix to my macbook pro early 2008. And after the restart everything worked fine even my USB ports! But when i plug in my iPhone it only gets reconized under iPhoto! But is charging, and is not reconized under iTunes or xCode. So i thought "Odd" so i googled my problem couldent find anything until i cam over an article in gizmodo. it was instructions on how to fix the USB port problems on the 10.5.6 DFU mode fix so i tryed it out. And guess what when i was done I HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I have bootcamp on my macbook and its reconized under windows 7 fine. So it's not my iPhone, i tryed reinstalling itunes CLEAN INSTALL i mean i deleted every single folder related to it Even the Mobile Device Support! Im out of ideas here i even downloaded the 10.5.6 combo update and installed it Still no go so i beg of you please i need my iPhone reconized under iTunes on my mac i hope you guys can help.

Thanks.

try using a usb hub. I had the same problem and i was getting so FRUSTRATED and then i connected it through a usb hub and it works in DFU mode. because with 10.5.6 the phone doesn't go completely into DFU mode you should try using the usb hub.

Follow the dfu mode fix listed on the Dev Team Blog.

Fixing DFU mode on 10.5.6

As noted previously OS X 10.5.6 introduced a bug that affected the use of DFU mode. with some Macs. There have been previously published hacks and techniques to fix this, but here is another method that can be used to temporarily restore DFU functionality in order to use QuickPwn or PwnageTool.

1. You will need an account with ADC (Apple Developer Connection) this is free and takes a few minutes to sign up, you should read the terms and conditions carefully and you should only sign up if you are thinking of developing applications in the future - http://developer.apple.com/mac/
2. Download the disk image “IOUSBFamily-315.4-log.dmg” for Mac OS X 10.5.5 Build 9F33” (yes, that is a “5” in 10.5.5 - this is a developer debug package of the USB kernel extension).
3. Unplug non-vital USB equipment, such as external DVD writers, USB scanners, USB mass storage devices, at the most leave a Keyboard and Mouse connected.
4. Install IOUSBFamily-315.4.1.pkg from within the disk image
5. Reboot your system!
6. Perform necessary DFU activity with QuickPwn or PwnageTool.
7. Download the disk image “IOUSBFamily-327.4.0-log.dmg” for Mac OS X 10.5.6 Build 9G55”
8. Intall IOUSBFamily-327.4.0.pkg from within the disk image
9. Reboot your system!
10. Reattach your USB peripherals.

Thanks for the responses guys! its just i dont want to do Anything DFU mode anymore all i want is itunes and xcode to detect my iphone GAH! i will try the idea posted though and get back to you guys.

Also thanks for the reply jmann! i tryed your instructions, but infortunatly it didn't work my iphone still wont appear in itunes or in xcode but it will in iPhoto god this is making me angry.

I tryed your fix again jMan and now im getting 1600 errors.

Try a restore with "restore mode"

Make sure the phone is off, disconnected from the computer and that it has a charge. Plug in the USB part of the cable in the mac. Press and hold the home button on the iPhone and with it pressed, plug in the 30 pin connector to the bottom of the iPhone. This will force the iPhone into a restore mode. Keep holding the home button until iTunes picks up the phone in a restore mode. Restore the iPhone with an original Apple IPSW.

Thanks jmann restoring now! i will see if it detects it in a second!

SUCCESS OMG IM SOO HAPPPYY!!!! THANKS JMAN! i will be sure to rep you!
