I know a ton of people are having the same problem as me, and I can't find a decent solution anywhere. This issue seems to be really random as well, because some people I know have the same issue, and other don't. So here are the problems I'm having...
first, my info:
Carrier: Fido (just switched from Rogers and got a new 16gb 3gs - was using an 8gb 3g before)
Location: BC, Canada
1. I can't send emails over 3g. Only wifi. Although when I first got an iphone 4 months ago, it was the opposite way around. When I contacted Rogers, they told me to erase my email account from the phone and start fresh with their outgoing SMTP address as the primary server. When I did that, it gave me the problem I have now. Since then I have never been able to send an email over 3g.
2. If my primary server is set to ANYTHING other than the host connection's outgoing server (ie. Shaw's SMTP if I'm at a place that uses Shaw, Telus' SMTP if I'm using Telus, etc), the email seems to hang when I send it. However, if I leave it be for 10 to 30 minutes, it will eventually send the mail. So it is changing to a secondary server, but it seems like an unacceptable amount of time.
This drives me nuts! A big part of the reason I got an iphone was having internet and email wherever I go. I can receive emails, I forgot to mention, but whats the point if I can't reply to them? I've tried every possible solution I can think of, including hard resets, wiping the phone completely and not restoring from backups, etc. I've even set up my phone exactly how my friends who have working emails on their phone set their's up.
If anyone can shed any light on this, please please do. Thank you very much!
