I have an iPhone 5 that won't power without being plugged in and when it is plugged in it won't restore, all it does when plugged in and not in recovery mode is boot cycle, it tries to boot over and over! Then I put it in recovery mode and it won't go past extracting the iPhone software!

Any ideas or help would be awesome!

Very likely true, though. When an iPhone refuses to power on unless plugged in, generally it's a logic board fault (and that goes for most any model, in my experience). I know you might be thinking that plugging a pre-charged battery from another 5 in might help, but chances are it'll act the exact same way, and it'd only serve to void whatever warranty coverage the device may have.

You could try restoring from DFU mode, but seriously, I'd say that thing's mostly only good for spare parts now.
