iPhone won't turn off OR return to the home screen!!

It's stuck on making a phonecall/favorites/keypad/contacts!!!
How do I remedy this?


Also at times when I would select an app to utilize, the black screen with the apple logo would appear. It's only been 9 days!!

hold down the home and on/off button simultaneously for a few seconds.

restore
