Iphone wont turn off!

I have the old Iphone and I just updated to the 2.2 version and now my Iphone wont turn off. I press the top button and it wont go into lock mode and if I hold it down it wont turn off. I even held down the top button and the home button to do the override off thing and it still doesnt do anything. I have to wait for it to do the 1 minute shut off for inactivity. What the hell is goin on?

sorry dude never heard of this...have you tried a restore? thats all i can think of. since it probably worked pre 2.2?

just restored it to factory settings...apparently it must be the button...what a piece of crap. I spent $400 on this thing a year ago, this is the 2nd one I've had to get, it was cased and protected from any harm and now the freakin button doesnt work. I'm done with this apple crap.
