Yesteryday my phone started to act strange. It started to restart randomly.

Checked if there was any update, saw the 11.2.5 update with a size of ~100+ MB and decided to download it.

The phone kept restarted during this time, tried again to update with no succes.

Connected it to the iTunes, did the 11.2.5 update but the phone kept restarted itself every 3 or 4 minutes.

Then it began to ask for update again, only this time it was 2.7 GB (via iTunes). During this time the phone restarted many times, however the 2.7 GB download was finished and did a restore.

Nothing changed.

Did a restore as a new phone.

Nothing changed.

The phone will stay up for hours if there is no use.

During phone calls it restarts every 3 minutes.

During use, sometimes even faster, after a minute or two.

I don't know what else to do.

Any thoughts ?

Phone could be defective, contact Apple support. They may send a replacement if your device was not dropped/tampered with/damaged.

As new condition, not a scratch. Taking in tomorrow for service.

I hoped others might have experienced this strange behavior as well.

How can I tell if they will try to scam me and give me a refurbished phone ? I need my phone back, fixed or a brand new one.

There will literally be a "refurbished" sign on either the box or wrapping, that's what they did for my iMac anyways. I wish you hood luck dude!

Restored it in any possible scenario.

Just had a livechat with Apple and they advised me to take it for repair as well unfortunately.

Did you try downloading the IPSW file from ipsw.me and ‘Restore iPhone’ in iTunes and DFU Mode? Click on it while holding down the left Alt key (Mac) or the left Shift key (Win) and select the iOS 11 IPSW firmware file.

I cannot find the link on Apple's website at the moment, however it stated that any attempt of downgrading the iOS can allow them to refuse warranty. Since the phone was bought January 4th this year, I did not attempted any downgrading.

Thought that the update will fix the issue. I did followed the procedure without any success.

It was taken into service today. Will confirm if it was hardware related, or not.

Phone was replaced with another unit, defective also.

The all-around metal bezel is misaligned, I'd have to go back and do another exchange.
