I am probably beating a dead horse here but looking around i havent found a similar thread here.

Now most people claim that their iphone x display are perfect and show no signs of image retention and burn in. Which is awesome.

But here is the thing. Have you guys tried the 5% grey test? My iphone x is 1 week old and already shows image retention under this test. Now, obviously this is something that is only perceptible under this test. During Normal use i cannot see any image retention. The only exception is the clock app in which the issue becomes noticeable in a dark environment.

I also tested 3 other iphone x’s and they all show similar results.

I can see faint images of borders and lines all over the place presumably from the settings menu, messages etc.

I would really appreciate if owners of iphones with OLED screens try this test and report their results.

Please note that this test must be done in complete dark conditions. Run this video in full screen and post your feedback.

Since my phone is one week old i just want to see whether this is the most the problem will appear on my phone or if it gets worse.

Here is the link:

EDIT: Perhaps this is not image retention but banding instead?

Tested on a Note 9. Can barely see faint grayish traces of lower bottom static icons and upper right corner where static time, battery and signal strength are located. 1 week old phone.
