Has it been advertised if the original iPhone x will be down in price once the new phones are out ?

Debating about the 6.1 model but if the price is down on the original iPhone x that maybe an option too.

They do not advertise possible price drops until it happens. I am sure that sooner or later they will cut the X price by $50. If they have a lot of them they turn stock like that over to Best Buy who will discount it even more.

You might be able to find surplus stock of the iPhone X on sale, but the current iPhone X is likely to be completely replaced by the 'new' iPhone X entirely according to sources. That's to say it will disappear from the lineup entirely. Rumours also suggest the new iPhone X will be priced $100 cheaper than the current X, with the X plus adopting the current X pricing

Cheers: just thinking the original one would probably still be better than the newer 6.1 model. I have the 7 Plus and love the dual camera.

Was just editing my post about pricing. Does suggest a price drop of sorts on the horizon for the new X. Certainly seem to be a number of drawbacks with 6.1 in terms of removed features

Yep, I’ll see the pricing. Might be ok if the newer model is ‘only’ £600

If the rumour is true that the new X Plus will drop into the price bracket currently occupied by the X, then it would make sense to demise the existing X completely - in the same fashion as the iPhone 5. Not doing so would leave the X awkwardly sitting alongside the 8 Plus at the same price.

I’ve never previously took any notice - does the outgoing model usually drop in price immediately after the keynote when the replacement (and it’s pricing) is announced? It would be quite odd to keep the X on sale at its current pricing for a week and a half after its replacement is announced at a potentially lower price. If it did drop straight away and the 2018 incremental improvements are underwhelming, I might buy it.

The original X will be discontinued! It has been rumored and it makes sense for Apple to get rid of it to not cannibalize the sales of the new ones. I really don't see the reason of keeping it $100 cheaper while it would be close to the 6.1 on one end and the new X/X plus on the other.

What will happen is when the new X/X+ are announced, apple stores will discount the current X 100.00 off the retail price to clear out inventory and the carriers and best buy will keep prices till the new models come out then discount them to sell them off.

If the new "X" is $100 less than the old one, won't they have to discount the old "X" by $200? Otherwise, it would be the same price as the new "X". Not much of a discount there, right?

True true but apple stores don't discount much in general.

If 700 seems legit for the current X's to clear them out, it will have a negative effect on re-sale values on people who are trying to sell their X's.
Exactly why I think the rumours of the current X being discontinued (as in, Apple stop selling it) are true.

The Only reflection of a discount with the iPhone is usually more notable after the fall Keynote, then Apple’s prices usually drop $100 for the older model iPhones.

Re-sale value drop to $300-$400

It may not fall down that much but if apple does clearance out the 2017 X's for 700 it will bring prices down to 4-500. I guess people who are used to selling their iPhones to help pay for the new ones need to sell early or get it listed and make a sale just after or before the announcements, but the carriers usually don't like to discount current devices till the new ones actually come into the stores.
