Has anyone else noticed low light videos shot with the iPhone X show a green dot like in the above video? The YouTube video is not mine, but I’ve seen this on all 3 of my family member’s iPhone X’s.

That is an internal reflection from the lamp post. All multi-layer lenses do this. Some minimize the flare better than others.

It’s not a defect. Some photographers even take advantage of flare in their work.

For example, here it is helping me capture the recent eclipse without any fancy glass or solar filter.

Hmm, ok I guess that makes me feel better that it’s not a defect. But this is the first iPhone I’ve ever noticed this on.

The irony of this is that you’ve always had this. But now that iPhones are better at low light, there’s more chance the reflections are going to fall on a dark background. Thus pointing them out.

Normally you’d simply not notice them, or they get drowned out by a light background.

Here’s more info. This affects all cameras, even big and proper ones.

If it really bothers you, just fix it in post. Lots of smart-fill or selection tools in photo apps now to remove them.

+1 here, i was taking some low light photos last night and noticed these green dots as well on my iPhone X, you're certainly not alone on this.

Same experience here. It's kinda stupid that my iPad Pro takes better pictures than my iPhone X (yes, I consider a photo without a green dot to be better than one with it, regardless of other quality factors).

I noticed 2 days ago, but the dot in my pictures is white. It happens when taking a picture in front of a light. So I'm learning to embrace the notch, the pink on the screen and now, the white dot on the pictures.
