I'm not a conspiracy theorist or anything but just had a thought........

What if all these story's we are hearing about low supply, short supply, delays RE iPhone X is coming directly from Apple, I mean let's be fair it's nothing but speculation at this moment in time

My thoughts behind this -

* It's ultimately free advertisement as on every Google search there be a large hit of searches under "iPhone X"

* It's making people wonder if there going to get it in time, this way the price is shadowed and just adds sheer panic, and judging on the steep price I believe they need a gimmick to get the sales up at the start and this could be it, I mean I'm finding £999 with no conversion rate taking in account is (a bitter to pill swallow)

* Apple are the most successful business in the world, do you think there just gonna pull the date of OCT 27th for preorder and NOV 3rd for release out of nowhere, if they couldn't meet demand, plus they now have competitors on the market, there smart there not gonna let anything tarnish their reputation

* Think about it, this is what companies do when things are more expensive than normal rate, 90% of rumours are started by buisness's to get people talking about it!!!

Guys and girls this is only my opinion, I don't want to cause a stir, I'm just curious to hear what your thoughts are?

Just like the majority of yous, I'm hoping to secure the handset come Oct 27th, good luck to you all :D

The exchange rate comes at least partially from the fact that US prices don't include sales tax and the U.K. price includes VAT.

I don't know if the rumours come from Apple, but I also don't really care - I'll be pre-ordering anyway.

Apple has ZERO reason to try and hype a product that would have already sold out within minutes even if they WERE on schedule.

For now (and it'll change in time, but for NOW), people are desperate to get the "best" iPhone. Everyone agrees the 8 would have sold out in minutes were it not for the X, and the 8 is a lousy upgrade from the 7 (it would have been "meh" even if they named it the 7S (as it should have been). Instead, they hoped by naming it "8" they could wring the last few dollars out of a 4 year old platform.

Even still, it would have sold out fast if it was the "best".

The price of the X is far too low (really). I'd wager they're wishing they had priced it at $1799/1999 for as much pent up demand there is already (between the lame "8" and the month they made everyone wait to throw their money at the screen...).

I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s a conspiracy theory, but I really do think this limited supply issue is being exaggerated.
Happens every year. I remember the same posts about 6 months waiting for a phone since the iPhone 5.

This is not any kind of novel conspiracy theory. I've read this here at least 50 times over the years.

Apple most certainly doesn't do this. Others, particularly outside of the US may do this,

I think a better conspiracy theory would be Apple trying to squeeze every last nickel out of us, until we scream bloody murder. How about that?

It's all about bragging rights and epeen flexing. Not sure why either... because I could give a rats what type of phone someone else has.

I hope they do it next year. Would be interesting to see the sales numbers and if people out there would ever draw a line at getting bent over by Apple.

Is it that hard to believe that some people don’t want the X and would rather stick with their 7 plus or 8 plus?

It has nothing to do with money. I’m buying the X for my wife because she needs a new phone and is coming from a regular 7. I don’t want the X for myself because I’d rather wait until they have a plus version X next year.

Get over yourselves.

He has just pointed out the interesting picture of the arguments against the X. Claiming it is just for “show”. Except of course where his wife is concerned.

No reason to trash each other, X is for some not for others. If you have an 8 enjoy, if you are waiting for the X, I share your excitement.

Well.... see how you're trying to justify why you bought the 8+. Just trying a little too hard and getting a little defensive. Why are you so mad? You were attacking x buyers cause they were buying it for bragging rights. You sound like a 16 year old girl that didn't the car she wanted but now wants all of her friends to think that she got what she wanted :D But congratulations for having the same processor! I'm more into the huuuge 5.8" oled and the double ois camera with the better aperture.

Excuse me? I think those of use that bought the iPhone 8 Plus bought it because we didn’t want the 10. What’s so hard to understand about that? Not trying to justify his/our purchase. Why do you even bring this up ?

Definitely someone is going to get a nice little note from the moderator for being personal by the looks of some of your wording in your back-and-forth argument with the other member.

Going back to the original point of thread...I think it's doubtful that Apple has any incentive to fake a supply shortage. MAYBE a rumoured shortage might motivate fence-sitters to pre-order rather than wait weeks or months to get the phone, but I doubt it would make much a difference. Seems like a cheap marketing trick that is beneath Apple.

However, I agree with the point that Apple, well-known to be logistic masters, would set a firm date if they weren't sure they could deliver—especially on their flagship product. I expect that the more extreme shortage rumours are exaggerated; Apple will use all its powers to get these phones out the door.

Personally I don't expect there to be the shortages publicised, of course if you don't order within the first 10 minutes you'll be waiting a few weeks as per any usual launch. I doubt they are directly creating the rumours, but could well be indirectly causing them by keeping production numbers close to their chests. Only time will tell.

Well, I'd be careful. Your optimistic, but I would think Xtreme pessimism would be a better strategy come the 27th :D

2014 to 2016: iphone versus iphone plus

2017: iphone x versus iphone 8/iphone 8 plus

10 minutes is far too long, it will likely need to be under four minutes for those who want to pre-order. But only Apple knows the production numbers, which I believe will actually be adequate come November 3 for those who do pre-order.

I think the fact they decided to release it in Nov shows the production constraints are real.

I think the fact they decided to release it in Nov shows the production constraints are real.

I think everyone agrees they had issues.. The question on the table is did they pick November because they would have adequate supply for a normal release or it was as long as they felt they could wait and still have a reasonable release date next year.

In two weeks we’ll have an idea. I am guessing that it will be a normal release cycle for what that’s worth.
