I received my iPhone X on November 3rd but it wasn’t until today that I just took off the screen protector that it comes with to put on a glass one. I noticed several one inch long hairline scratches when held up to the light. I’ve never dropped it and I had the screen film on the whole time. I heard about other people having the same problem but they never responded to what happened. It’s really bothering me and I feel like for $999.99 it should be perfectly scratch free right out of the box. I bought it from T-Mobile and I don’t have Apple care. What can I do about this?

Install a screen protector and forget about it. A screen protector is going to get the micro scratches too. I've never had an iPhone that when put under a bright light and tilted in all sorts of directions that you don't see micro scratches. Unless you never touch the screen or never put it in your pocket I don't see how it can be avoided. Look at the thread I linked below. The scratches on the stainless steel band are from just normal use… The scratches on the band would bother me more.

Return it, you likely caused the damage as there isn't a screen protector that comes with the phone, just plastic covering. Something likely got caught between the two. So easy solution just return and buy a new one.
