Hello all! Hope you’re all enjoying your iPhone X’s if you got them. I’ve had a few hiccups along the backup/restore and use process so I figured I’d post my issues and see if anyone else had them. I’ve already reset all settings for now and started going back thru things. I’m hoping to not have to go thru an erase and restore or even worse the nuclear option of setting up completely new (there’s GOTTA be an easy way to get everything back up!)

For background:
I left my iP7+ Doing a ~50GB backup to my old (2011 USB2 super slow) MacBook Pro the night before launch. It completed alright, but it was on 11.1 My iPX came with 11.0 or 11.0.2 iirc. The iPX immediately tried to download and update to 11.1 OTA on its own. I finally got it stopped and managed to do a wired update and restore backup which took ~3 hours to complete. When it was done restoring, all my apps appeared as “loading” the phone completely FROZE onscreen-for example I wasn’t able to tap in to anything at all other than locking and unlocking the phone. Couldn’t even answer a call-it was stuck on the home screen with all the apps “loading” I hard rebooted (up/down vol plus side button) After the restart, it seemed to go well-loaded all my apps but then I had issues syncing my music (I keep a local library on top of iCloud music library for using in my DJ apps) which leads me to my next points.

Also after coming out of the box at 69% and being plugged in to my Mac almost all day, the battery never reached 100% (i recognize it was under the heavy load of a backup/restore) I decided to run it right on down and recharge fully today. That did work up to 100%

-my iPhone X Safari iCloud tabs aren’t appearing on my iPad only my iPhone 7+ which is named “iPhone” I renamed the “iPhone” (X) to Rosko’s iPhone X in settings and I will mess with the name to see if it works on iCloud. The other devices’ safari tabs show up on my iPhone X.

-When I turned on iCloud music library for most of yesterday, it stuck on loading playlists all day yesterday. That didn’t happen today. Up and running. Perhaps it was server load?

-I’m not getting all message notifications and iMessages are split between my iPad (and if I turn it back on my iPhone 7+)

-5Ghz AC WiFi not picking up for the phone in or out of case in the same spots as it would on my iPhone 7+ (Will look into home setup-but wondering if anyone else has noticed)

-My phone heats up pretty good on the charger while my wife’s didn’t and she also didn’t have any issues on the backup and restore.

Interested to see if anyone else had/is having any hiccups at all.

I haven’t had much of the problems you are facing close to none of them actually, my phones working perfectly and the back up went smoothly, I did have one problem with the tabs but after restarting my phone it started working properly, I think your issues should iron themselves out if not download the apple support app and have them look at it cause you still have 14 days with buyers remorse to return or get an exchange done if you believe your device isn’t fucntiong

Thanks for the reply! I’m gonna have apple support take a look Wednesday. One thing I noticed is that I can’t close apps (are we even supposed to do that?) while I’m on the phone. For example if i’m on the phone, and try to close maps or another location using app or if I have a bunch of tabs open, when I go to the switcher and press to get the close buttons, if I try to swipe up (only works when apps have the minus/stop button up) or hit the button, it takes me right back to the phone screen almost like I was hitting the home button from a few pages deep into your home screens.

Yes I got a solution for that, I was confused about that too at first so when you swipe up to multitasking hold down the app you want to close and a small icon will appear on the top left of the multitasking page for you to close the app and I hope everything on Wednesday goes smoothly

Yes I know about the holding down and the (-) icon appearing. Even when I do that-once I go to press the (-) it just flips back to the phone. I wish I could post a video of it for you to see here.

Oh wow, that’s not normal, I’m not sure if its an iOS 11 bug or hardware issue. I think it could be software related in my opinion but get that checked out Wednesday as well, and seeing that you are encountering a lot of issues I’d ask them for a replacement device
