so I’m on iOS 12 Beta 3 and I’ve plugged in my iPhone to iTunes. However, the phone isn’t appearing as it keeps saying a software update is required to connect to my phone.

I press the install option and it always comes up with this:

“installation failed. Can’t install the software because it is not currently available from the software update server.”

Anyone have any solutions to this please? I just want iTunes to recognise my iPhone...

Same here, so annoying

Beta builds aren’t for day to day use, just so you know. Current iTunes version available to the public doesn’t support iOS 12.

Ah I see, and tbh I’m perfectly fine with iOS 12, haven’t had any issues apart from connecting to iTunes. I’ve seen so many people manage to connect their iOS 12 devices to iTunes however, so I’m not sure why mine is like that.

I’m on the latest version of iTunes as well which is 12.8 I think?

Could it be because the people, you’re talking about, are on the MacOS beta version as well?!

Edit - my bad. Looks like the latest version of iTunes does support iOS 12 beta. Have you tried restarting your computer? If that doesn’t work then you might want to reinstall iTunes.

If you have a developer account, installing Xcode 10 beta and running it will download the necessary components for iOS 12 and iTunes will communicate with iOS 12 devices again.
If you can't install Xcode 10 beta, you'll need to wait until Apple pushes the components to their servers or issues a patch for iTunes.

Yep, I’ve restarted my Mac and installed the latest version of iTunes but still doesn’t work

On the public beta so won’t be able to install it. Seems as if I’m stuck with this problem now

My iMac is still on High Sierra... I updated to 10.13.6 and iTunes 12.8 yesterday and noticed the error popping up after that. Not really problematic for me, just annoying!

since you are part of the public beta, you should be able to download xcode 10 from the developers website.

Can confirm this fixed the problem. Massive thanks!!

Update: tried restoring to iOS 11.4 through iTunes and it was stuck on data recovery attempt failed. Not ideal

iTunes 12.8 doesn’t recognize iOS 12.

If you have a PC, it will work as intended except upgrading or downgrading using IPSW.

I reported this issue already. Hoping for a fix coming soon.

You can attempt to restore again since iOS 11.4.1 is out since yesterday.

Yep, restored to 11.4.1 now, just updating back to iOS 12 seeing as I made a backup on that.

I have the same problem with my iPad. I'm downloading the XCODE stuff but don't know what I'm doing. Can you tell me what I need to download so my iPad will communicate with my Mac and iTunes? thanks.

Download Xcode 10 beta 3 and install it. once thats done, the iPhone should connect to iTunes

I want to try the Xcode 10 beta 3 solution, but it is simply massive at 14.5 gb and my computer doesn't have enough space (I know...). does anyone know if it will run from an external?

I am on IOS 12 Public Beta and I can no longer connect my phone to iTunes which is a shame. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

Faced the same issue on my iPhone after upgrading to iOS 12 Beta so after downgrading to iOS 11.4 beta version things working fine, I guess Apple will fix this with the upcoming update on iOS 12.
