Earlier this week I took advantage of a promotion and got myself an iPhone X  .....Once I got home, I restored from my previous backup, and upgraded to iOS 12. Since then, the iPhone is nowhere to be seen on iTunes (12.8.0.150). I've googled a little, and every suggestion I've seen so far to fix this behavior (not new it seems) doesn't work. Maybe I should just wait for Mojave to come out next week and see if gets better, but it's still not normal!... It's the first time I'm experiencing this, not sure what to do next...?

I plugged my iPhone X with iOS 12 into iTunes 12.8 and it made me download some update from the computer before it would recognize the phone. Never seen that type of update prompt before it was from iTunes directly and the version number didn't change (still 12.8)

This is what I'm referring to: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208831

Happened to me too, but my iPhone still appears in the iTunes window so no issue there.

I have the exact same problem. Spoke to Apple Support and they said to wait for Mojave update next week and also an iTunes update and then the problem should be resolved.

That’s great tx. I guess I can wait 3 more days then :)

I don't have that problem but I did the IOS12update via iTunes and the system had me do an iTunes update before it would install - I suspect that is the update coming with Majave

Just a follow-up: it now works just fine with Mojave and iTunes 12.9 - all good!

iTunes updated some stuff for me as well with an iPhone XS Max, BUT, now there’s no icon for my device in iTunes. Just the name. Anyone else seeing this?
