Iphone x Preorder: Replace this iphone or Buy a new iphone option?

When going through the Apple store app to buy the iphone x im getting this option:

it says " Replace this iphone or Buy a new iphone option? "

I plan on buying another one to possibly sell or give to a family member thats on a different verizon account. Im worried that this is tied to my account somehow.. any insight would be great!

No matter what option you choose, you have to give a Verizon phone number before it allows you to check out. If you pay it outright, I don't think it's tied to any account.
