iPhone X iphone X SIM question

I am currently using iphone 6 issued by work (on Verizon network) - would it be possible to buy iphone X and use the SIM card from my work iphone 6?
If the SIM card is compatible, do I need to buy the Verizon version of iphone X or an "unlocked" one?

You can buy the verizon model or the sim-free model and it will still work. Just take off the sim from the 6 and insert it to your new phone when you buy.
