I’m in the latest iOS 12 beta and since yesterday all of a sudden my iPhone X’s screen has a mind of its own as it acts crazy and it doesn’t follow my commands. I contacted Apple and they suggested hard reset which seems to work for a while and then after a while the same things happens again. They suggested that it may be a software issue and of course the warranty is not applicable because I’m in beta.

Anyone else experienced this? I’ve already submitted feedback

Not heard of issues like that.

Your problem does sound like hardware to me. Being in the beta isn’t a huge obstacle to getting it checked out or fixed. DFU to downgrade to iOS 11 immediately - which would also be a way to check if it’s software - or if it’s not that urgent, wait a week or two for the public release of iOS 12. Then you’re good to go.

Would GM be enough to get it fixed? It will probably be released on Tuesday. I’ll wait for Tuesday anyway to find out if it’s a software issue although I wouldn’t mind a new iPhone

GM is Wednesday. And not sure. GM is almost certainly the same version as the public release but apple store people might be like “that’s not out till next week”

i have noticed since the last beta every now and again My X does not respond to some touches

I was trying to delete something and it just wouldn't work ,

very intermittent and ok for most of the time.

It is a software issue. Sometimes, when I scroll, it would stop scrolling on its own. This time I have to retry scrolling. Reboot solves it for me, but it is coming back after some time. I am affected since iOS 12. (iPhone X)

I’ve reset all settings two days ago and the issue disappeared. It must have been a software issue. I’m trying not to jinx it and reappear however but so far so good

Another update: the issue returned for like 5 seconds and then back to normal. I don’t know what to think anymore. I just hope the GM will fix this otherwise I’ll go to the apple store

I had the same problem whole summer -before the betas- and finally decided to take it to the Apple store last week. I had a screen recording of the erratic acts and showed it to the genius guy. He was so pleased to see the video and thanked me a lot. Apparently them seeing the issue live (video or not) is a huge deal. So try to get a recording of it as a proof. They have changed my screen without any further question and seems like it is solved. The only problem that it is still overheating. Probably going to make a DFU. I hope yours can be solved as easy as mine!

I had the same problem a few weeks ago with my X, same as you all thought initially software and tried resetting and not restoring etc. but it continued. It was a problem with the screen, possibly the digitizer part of the assembly. Genius bar switched it out in a few hours under warranty, now no issues. I have read about this a few dozen times over the last year...seems like a substantial number of devices may be affected by this. Of course we won't see any comment from Apple

My X has random occurrences where touch input just stops for a few seconds and then starts working again, think there are bugs.

So. I brought it to the Apple store in Manchester (UK). They could see the issue so they will change my screen. I’m drinking a pint waiting nearby as it takes 2 and a half hours to change it. They told me that if this will not fix it, I will have to delete my device and set it up as a new device and not restore it from the cloud as they’ve seen before issues with the saved data. If after that the issue will persist I’ll get a new device I guess.

This is annoying as literally every Apple device I bought has an issue at some point and needs replacement. That’s not great for such expensive toys. At least they replace them...

I’ll let you know if this will not fix the issue.
